The Foundation for the American Board of Trial Advocates released a new video summarizing its many programs to educate the children on the importance of the Seventh Amendment, protecting our right to trial by jury in a civil case.

Justice Sandra Day O’Connor was the keynote speaker at their recent Youth Education Forum.

Wood is a Diplomate of ABOTA, a designation for those who have tried more than 100 jury trials to verdict in a civil case.

Weatherly has been the national board representative for the Dallas chapter since 2008, is the president-elect of the Dallas chapter, and was elected in 2014 to be one of 12 trustees of the Foundation. Check out the 5-minute video: ABOTA Foundation

The American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys named board member Grace Weatherly as its representative for the American Civil Trial Bar Roundtable meeting in Williamsburg, Virginia. The roundtable is comprised of representatives from the 16 top civil trial bar organizations across the country. The American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys is the only American Bar Association-recognized entity offering national board certification in medical malpractice that is approved by the State Bar of Texas. Weatherly has served on its board of directors since 2013.

Weatherly will address the State Bar of Texas’ annual Advanced Civil Trial seminar participants to discuss, “Presenting Your Case in 8 hours or Less Top 10 Tips” in Dallas on August 22, 2014 and in Houston on October 31, 2014. A Gregg County, Texas jury trial resulted in a $195,871 judgment for a construction worker allegoing that Longview Bridge and Road, Ltd fired him because he mentioned to a company manager that he was nearly 60 years old. Days after the conversation, an offer to transfer Jimmie Jackson to avoid a lay-off was withdrawn. Brian Bunt and Zachary Austin, counsel for defendant, made no settlement offer prior to the 1-week trial, parts of which appeared on local television news stations.
